Compatibility
In Saju, the day pillarrepresents you and your spouse’s place, so it matters most for compatibility.
Reading the relationship
How it’s calculated
We calculate each person’s Four Pillars from their birth date, then score the Ten Gods relationship between your day stems, the
harmony, clash, punishment and resentment relations between your day branches, and how your five elements complement each other. The same details
always give the same score.
However, Saju compatibility is not a scientifically proven theory. A low score
is no reason to break up, and a high score doesn’t make a relationship run itself.
Real relationships depend on how two people treat each other. Please enjoy it just for fun.
What is Saju compatibility (gunghap)?
In Korean Saju, gunghap (compatibility) means placing two people’s Four Pillars side by side and looking at
how they influence each other. This isn’t a random score generator: it uses both people’s real
birth dates (solar or lunar) to properly calculate each chart, then analyzes the relationship
by fixed rules.
What does it look at?
Day pillar (day stem and branch) — of the eight characters, this one stands for you and your spouse’s place, so it matters most.
Day branch relationship — whether your day branches harmonize (Six or Three Harmony) or collide (clash, punishment, resentment).
Ten Gods relationship — what role each person’s day stem plays for the other (Eating God, Seven Killings, Direct Resource, etc.), calculated both ways.
Element balance — how much each person fills in the other’s missing elements.
How is the score calculated?
The score combines the four factors above. Because A-to-B and B-to-A
are both calculated, swapping the two people always gives the same score.
In thousands of simulated pairs, the average score was around 70, and 88 or higher
came up only about 7% of the time.
FAQ
Does a low score mean we’re not compatible?
A low score means "a pairing that isn’t automatically easy", not that the relationship can’t work. Think of it as needing a bit more effort to meet each other halfway.
Do I need to know our birth times?
Birth time is optional. The compatibility reading is based on the day stems and branches, so it works without it.
Can I use a lunar birthday?
Yes. Both solar and lunar dates work, and leap months are handled correctly.
